Movie Night
Jul. 17th, 2008 09:08 amYAY! Finally got to see Mongol at the Grand Cinema in Tacoma. It was really a beautiful movie, or perhaps more artistically, I should say*film* from here on. In the big scheme of the movie film, it is a love story. Young Temudgin chooses his bride at the tender age of nine and *NEVER* forgets her for a moment. His love for her and his family is a driving force in his life. It molds his character and desire to fight for right and unity among the Mongol people. Battle scenes were amazing.

A few things about the film were off, or anachronistic (shod horses, metal stirrups, among others), but all that aside, we really enjoyed it. The film ran 2 hrs 6 min. It is as though the producer was screaming at the editor & director "TWO HOURS - NO LONGER!!! Some of the scenes were a bit choppy, and the story made a few jumps around - that's where maybe 15 or 20 more minutes of screen time would have made it smoother. During those scenes, however, the director was able to distract us with these amazingly beautiful sweeping shots of the country. (OOO - piece of candy)
All in all, we'd recommend it and would probably see it again.
