Glory Days
Nov. 17th, 2011 12:08 pmMy 30th high school reunion is next spring. I don't know if the Class of 1982 is even holding a reunion. You see, I spent my high school years fairly miserable, a social outcast. We moved A LOT during my early school years and I found it increasingly difficult to form friendships. By the time I hit high school, that ship had not only sailed, it had sunk. I still find it hard to open up to people and form friendships. Some part of my psyche still feels like "why bother, you'll just have to leave again."
So thinking on that 30 year mark, I often wonder about my classmates who "had it all." Popular, pretty, social clubs, sports, fashion - they peaked in their teens! When I think about that, I actually feel sorry for them, even though they made my teen years a living hell.
Here I am in my mid 40s. I like who I am and am pretty happy with my life. I don't dwell on the 'glory days' of high school. My glory days are NOW.
